This post is dedicated to the memory of my friend Brittany Conwell who passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013.  We both went to Seton Hall University and worked together at the University Center.  She was diagnosed with a form of leukemia barely a handful of years ago and things seemed to be a bit of a roller coaster for her judging by her posts on facebook.  While we weren’t the closest of friends since she was a year ahead, we had good times at school and work.  Sadly I have no photos of us to include in this post.  She taught me a lot about how the University Center worked and played a role in my development as an employee and student.  She was there when I first started performing music at Open Mic Nights and was very supportive.  She knew how to have a good time and had the laugh to prove it.  And who could forget that Philadelphia accent.  Throughout her fight with cancer, she remained positive and was hugely inspiring to many of her friends and family. After she beat her first battle with the disease, I rode the 2010 LIVESTRONG Challenge in her honor.  My race this weekend at TriRock Asbury Park will be in her memory.  Rest in peace, Brittany.  It was great knowing you and you will be missed.

Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May the souls of the faithful departed
through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Amen
